July 15th second visit was to Mellifont Abbey. Mellifont Abbey was an abbey formed near by Monasterboice and eventually the peoples left Monasterboice for the new church/religion of the monks at Mellifont Abbey. Shown below is a very beautify fountain that I will show mom standing in the remains of. Henry the VIII plundered this area and destroyed all but the outlines of much of the Abbey.
