Golfed today at one of Irelands top golf courses.I have donated 7 golf balls for the sheep to find there and dropped a lot of cash for the golf “buggy,” rental clubs (head and shaft separated on the 3 wood), golf balls, and golf shirt.Mom took a big gulp as we left the club house but she was really laughing when we finished in record 3 hours, 45 minutes later.Wait till you see some of the pictures and imagine your mother driving the buggy…it was wild.At one point I had to run along side pushing the buggy back uphill to keep it from tipping over on me all the while the wicked woman is laughing hysterically.Well the hysterical laugh actually came on the next hole when after diligently watching for a clearing in traffic on the road (you had to hit over the road) I took a silky smooth back swing and came through with tiger force striking the ball exactly in the sweet spot only to see the head of the 3 wood fly sweetly 150 yards across the road while the ball dribbled 50 yards and lodged in the rough at the bottom of the sheep fence guarding the road! That started the grandstands laughing, holding their sides due to pain..well I went back retrieved my 6 iron and waited while this pregnant lady walked down the same road.Took a much less smooth, less tiger like swing and just after your mom said “don’t hit the lady” swung smartly with a slightly open club head and sent the ball barely 10 feet behind her…she wasn’t happy as she heard the grandstands break out in laughter again! So that was the short version of the day..Many doubles, a few single (bogies) and far too many “I lost track” on the card we will share these few slides today and save some commentary for the show when we get home. The castle was really cool as well and I will put a picture in on it..Finally, no slides from the work house or horn head point (left our camera in the hotel room and cussed all the while saying this would be a good picture)… yup my fault…think I’ve stopped hearing about that one yet???Here come the pictures..
HummmThis is a piece of cake…get out of my way boys here I come…First hole.. great optimism.
Putting in on the first hole for a bogey..Happy man .. great way to start..
Can I go back to the first hole??
My coach and caddie!
Wish I hadn’t found this ball…3 swings later I got it into the fairway .
While mom got tired of watching me try to hack out of the rough she found these swans and babies in the pond at the bottom of the fair way.
Visited Roe Castle. Site of many Irish/English battles in the 1500s
Wild flowers growing in the cracks of the castle wall.
